This weekend my husband and I took the puppy for a barbecue-shindig-backyard-camping-trip extravaganza. Exhausting, in a word...we tried to socialize Yuki with my father-in-law's dogs. It did not go well. But she got a good workout, met lots of new people, and proved to be perfectly well behaved sleeping in a tent all night. Sunday night was pretty frigid though so most of it was spent trying to accommodate this 35 pound monster that had burrowed down into the bottom of my sleeping bag. In the morning when it warmed up I kicked her out (or rather begged her to let me move my legs again) and wrapped her up in a fleece. Note to self: look into doggy sleeping bags.
In the aftermath of the incident it was clear that by actually eating my dinner I had deeply offended our puppy.
This is Yuki. She is our one year and four month old Pitbull-Terrier-Mix trouble-maker sweetheart rescue from the local chapter of the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, Lollypop Farm.
In the four short months that we've had her she has inflicted great joy, pain, pride, and hilarity upon me and my husband. She is the inspiration for The Yuki Report, which really and truly used to be an actual report that my husband and I would text or email to each other in the first few weeks that we had her. We were both anxious about her behaviors, and the potential for disaster inherent in bringing a new critter into our home.Stay tuned! The Yuki Report will debut shortly. |
